2009 MATCH PLAY Tournaments:
The LGC will organise 2 Matchplay series during 2009: Singles & Fourball.
Requirements for Entry
Each Player must hold a valid EGA/LGC Handicap and be listed as Active' in the Datagolf Software system.
Each Player must be a fully paid up member of the LGC.
Each Player is responsible to check his/her exact EGA Handicap and playing handicap.
Singles knockout Matchplay format
The participants have been drawn at random and a playing schedule shall be set up between each player at the earliest convenience with each Match being played on or before the closing date for each round as listed on the LGC Website with no exceptions.
The Player whose name appears first in the table shall be considered the "Challenger". It is the Challenger's responsibility to liaise with his/her opponent in order to make the necessary arrangements to fix a date and a venue for the match to be played.
Once the Challenger has made 3 (three) attempts to fix a location, date and tee time and the opponent has been unable to meet any of these requests and provided sufficient proof is provided to the Committee then the Challenger by default will go through to the next round.
Matches may be played on any course in Cyprus that is acceptable to all players. Should there be any dispute regarding the venue then Secret Valley shall be considered the default course to be played.
The Player with the higher handicap shall receive 100% of the difference of the lower handicapped player using the playing handicap and not the exact EGA Handicap.
Gents will play from the Yellow Tee and Ladies will play from the Red Tee.
Ladies with a higher handicap playing in a mixed match from tees with a higher Par, shall receive additional strokes equal to the difference between the Par of the sets of tees. For example, Secret Valley, the Men's Par is 71 and the Ladies Par is 72. Therefore, the lady shall receive 1 (one) extra shot after the calculation of the playing handicap difference and shall play off the Men's score card. All Strokes to be taken according to the Men's Stroke Index of the course being played. If the Lady has the lower handicap when playing from tees with a higher Par, then the Gent shall be deducted the strokes equal to the difference between the Par of the sets of tees after the calculation of the difference. For example, Secret Valley, the Gent will be deducted 1 stroke after calculation of the difference in playing handicaps.
Fourball Knockout Matchplay Format
Four ball is a match pitting two teams of two players against each other in a better ball format. The Rules & Format as per the Singles Matchplay shall apply.
However, handicaps are calculated at 90% of the difference using the playing handicap of the lowest handicapper in the flight of all players.
All four players play their own ball throughout and at the end of each hole the player with the best net score among the two partners wins the hole.
Note: In a mixed Four Ball Match the Ladies will play from the Red Tee and shall be awarded 1 (one) extra shot (if are the higher handicapper and playing at Secret Valley) after the calculation of the difference of all players and the Men shall play from the Yellow Tee.
Handicaps are taken from the Men's card and the assigned Stroke Index's of same.
